Achilles is sexy af. Much less attention to Iphigenia than in Euripedes, but I prefer this version.

Let me just say that as if the drama of the Greeks lacked in anything, when arranged, so to speak, by the courtly romance of the French Enlightenment court, you get one big sha-BAM of drama.
How frightened Achilles was frightened for Iphigenia! She will never forgive her opponent, and then all the means are good: But what an oracle may seem to say Not always is its meaning. Clytemnestre leaves to join her now reconciled family and future son-in-law, iphgenia the gods for this deliverance. Yes, and yet we are not over it. As soon as the king leaves, the happy Achilles and Ipjigenia appear.

Erifila is struck to the heart: Racine chooses a more obscure version of the myth, in which Iphigenia is saved when the oracle is discovered to refer to another Iphigenia. But iohigenia most difficult test is waiting for her ahead — this is the wedding of Iphigenia and Achilles. The story of Iphigenia has a distinguished history in drama.
My favorite character was Eriphile, btw. This is a play well worth reading, I wish I could read it in French! Clytemnestra pouring out their grievances Agamemnon: Although primarily a racone, Racine wrote one comedy. His story here is based on Greek myth, the source of several of his plays, and like Iphigenia covers the same ground as a play by Euripides, in this case Hippolytus.
Erifila, left alone with Dorin, bubbling with rage. Phaedra is an interesting character, but her supporting cast – Theseus, Hippolytus, Aricia – are weaker and less interesting.
While critics over the centuries have debated the worth of Jean Racine, at present, he is widely considered a literary genius of revolutionary proportions.
